Tbilisi police detained 107 people during a protest in the city center on Rustaveli Avenue, 10 law enforcement officers were injured, one of them received burns and is in hospital.

The protest action resumed in the capital on November 29 at around 19:00. The opposition, its activists and ordinary citizens are protesting against the decision of the Georgian authorities on November 28 to remove from the agenda the opening of negotiations on the country’s accession to the European Union by 2028.

Security forces reportedly forced the protesters to retreat to the Rustaveli metro station and began detaining them.

“Despite numerous signals from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the rally on Rustaveli Avenue, near the parliament building, repeatedly went beyond the limits established by the Law on Assemblies and Demonstrations,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

According to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, 107 protesters were administratively detained for petty hooliganism and disobeying police orders.

“People on Rustaveli Avenue threw various objects, stones, pyrotechnics, glass bottles and iron objects at law enforcement officers,” the statement said.
It is noted that since early morning, public utilities have been dismantling the remains of barricades made of benches, trash bins, electric scooters and other objects on Rustaveli.
